You have to upload app/, lib/ and pub/ folder outside Patches folder first before applying patch2.2+ ( if you are using magento 2.2.x ), for now, I am sure that you didn't upload app/ folder outside Patches folder.

You will see them different compare category which it has products, also our theme doesn't make sure compatible with widget and static block that they are magento2's sample data.
2) About slider, it is only demo slider, just wonder that do you want to change slider image? Or you want to use sample demo? If you still want to replace them with your slider image, so you only need to enable the frontend builder and change them. We only put a sample slider, so you can easy use builder to edit it, also note that the button or text is included in slider image, you can't add them as separately, you want to use the sample slider image of Home Digital and don't want to change it? Ok so I will change them for you.
The last, if you want to all is the same demo, all products, static block, configuration,... please install theme with full demo data, you will have all of them
