You can do that as the way you made with Sale but with other content, you create a new product block on the homepage then edit it and click "Embed Code" tab to get the new product code and use it for the content of cms page
i create on home page a block of new products, then copy embed code and create a new page but i cant be sure this new products and sale products pages show like category page with filter and others like category nex times?
1) About new products and sale products page, no they will be not able to shows as category page because basic they are not category, they are cms page. So of course the filter will not works on those pages

i cant understand i can see on new section and sale section not yet top rate because hasnt any rated products but best seller i think of auto feature because of create a new attribute for it not true come to me.
i added best_seller attribute then index then add from product it but not show on frontpage ? can you check is it true ? and for top rate and trending what i should do?

2) About featured products, after you create attribute, you must assign it to attribute set, then edit product and set "Yes" to that attribute
