I think the 2 modes aren't the same. IE, the cart is shown without any click in dropdown mode. In slide mode, you do have to click on the cart icon to show the cart. And it's well known that the less the customer have to click, the better it is...
As I said. Cart dropdown still work on header type 5 but not work well. If you fix cart dropdown to show perfect with header type 5. It will be broke layout inside cart. Hope you understand.

You just need to change minicart type from dropdown to slide. After change go to Clear cache -> done
